You know the trade.
Now beat the clock.

How it works

Three steps, one skill

Find the gap, drill it under a clock, then prove it on a timed mock.

1

Take the free diagnostic

Ten questions, about five minutes. You get a readiness score broken down by NEC domain — no guessing where you're weak.

2

Drill your weak domains

Practice by domain with the clock running. Every answer cites the article it came from, so you learn the book's layout as you go.

3

Run timed mocks

Two separately scored parts at the real exam’s pace — 2.2 minutes a question — and the same 70% thresholds. When exam day feels like a repeat, the clock stops being the enemy.

What's inside

Dark, one-handed, offline. Everything keyed to the 2023 NEC.

⏱️

Timed mock exams

Two-part mocks at the real exam’s pace and 70% thresholds, drawn from a growing bank of NEC-verified questions — no question repeats within a mock.

Why speed wins

Open-book is the trap

Most candidates walk in knowing the material. Then they burn four minutes hunting one table and never get the time back. The book is allowed precisely because finding things in it is the test.

  • Every answer cites its NEC article, so you learn where it lives
  • Drills are timed by default — pressure is the point
  • Calculations hand-checked against the 2023 NEC
  • Weak domains surface automatically as you practise

FAQ

Questions, answered

How hard is the Texas journeyman electrician exam?

Per TDLR figures for FY2024, 2,365 of 8,490 attempts passed — a 27.86% pass rate. Because the exam is open-book, the difficulty is rarely the code knowledge itself: it's finding the right article fast enough.

How many questions is it, and how long do I get?

Two parts: 59 code-knowledge questions in 130 minutes, and 26 calculation questions in 110 minutes. You need 70% on each part separately — passing one doesn't carry the other.

Which NEC edition does WattPrep use?

The 2023 National Electrical Code. Every calculator and explanation cites the article it comes from, so you build a map of the book as you study.

Are these real exam questions?

No. Everything is original study material written for exam prep. WattPrep is not affiliated with TDLR, PSI or the NFPA, and we don't reproduce secured exam content.

Is my study data private?

Yes. There's no account and no analytics. Your answers, scores and drill results live only on your iPhone and are deleted with the app. See the privacy policy.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → WattPrep. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. The Lifetime purchase isn't a subscription and never renews.
